Important Information

The Program aims to enhance organisations' ability to improve the learning experience for developing HP Para coaches through authentic workplace experiential learning.

The Program is comprised of two parts:

  1. International: Focused on targeting developing HP Para coaches who are ready and seeking to gain experiences with international Para coaching teams.
  2. Domestic: Focused on targeting developing HP Para coaches who are ready and seeking to gain experiences with domestic Para coaching teams.

 

The Para Coach Experiential Learning Program is an iterated version of the original Experiential Learning Program. The Para Coach ELPs provide an authentic international or domestic learning program for HP coaches seeking experience on coaching teams. They also address the unique needs of coaches working with Para athletes.  

The Coach selected must be available for:       

  • The 1st face to face workshop on June 13-14, 2025.       
  • The 2nd workshop will be held on March 4, 2026.  

 

Note: You will be required to attach the following documents to this application form so please prepare them in advance:          

  • A copy of the current NSO/D (or NIN partner) HP coach development strategy or plan (high level overview acceptable),
  • A concise, written overview of the nominated individuals experience, including an outline of the categorised Para athlete/s the coach is coaching,
  • Outline of what the coach hopes to learn during the tour (from the coach)
  • A job description or similar, which clearly outlines the roles and responsibilities for the coach whilst on tour.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply, the following criteria must be met by the coach and the NSO/D or NIN partner:

Organisation (NSO/D or NIN Partner)

  • Be an ASC recognised NSO/D, in line with the National HP Sport Eligibility Criteria
  • Be the Combat Institute or Australia, or the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia
  • Be a recipient of ASC Win Well investment during the 2024-25 and 2025-26 financial year
  • Be a NIN Partner
  • Have a current NSO/D HP Coach Development Plan/Strategy in place
  • Confirm that to the nominated individual (developing HP Coach) has been identified as part of the next generation of coaches in their identified sport
  • Commit to sending the nominated Para Coach on tour, either:
  • International Para Coach ELP, or
  • Domestic Para Coach ELP.
  • Confirm that the nominated individual (HP coach) will attend an international tour between 15 June 2025 and 28 February 2026.

 

Individual (HP Coach)

  • Be currently coaching a categorised Para athlete/s within an ASC Win Well funded NSO/D or NIN partner
  • Be endorsed by the NSO/D Performance Director (and NIN partner in the case of NIN Para Coaches).
  • Have a current individual coach development plan (ICDP)
  • Be available to attend two, face to face workshops before and after the tour (a two-day workshop pre tour and one day workshop post tour), and complete reflection exercises while on tour.
  • Undergo an integrity check by Sport Integrity Australia and the ASC (organised by the ASC).
  • Be an Australian citizen or have been granted permanent residency status.
