The Park 2.0

The Park, led by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), is an innovation hub initiated to accelerate the development and deployment of emerging, innovative and impactful sports technologies in key challenge areas. It aims to bridge the gap between emerging tech firms and the sports sector by fostering collaboration across the ASC, National Sporting Organisations (NSOs), researchers, and industry.

A key tenet of The Park is to tackle projects that are bigger than one sport and can contribute to sector wide impact.

The Park is part of the ASC’s unique position to support the sector through research, world leading practice and management of emerging risks and opportunities. This initiative seeks to co-design and champion solutions that benefit the Australian sport sector and broader community. Research and development domains will include, but are not limited to, sports medicine, rehabilitation, return to play, participation, inclusion, infrastructure and facilities, materials science, sport science, biomechanics, engineering and AI.

This grant opportunity builds on the first of The Park initiative which occurred in 2025/26 and is being made available to address the following five priority areas:

• Harnessing Data, AI and Machine Learning
• Next-Generation Wearables
• Digital Twin Technologies
• Brain Performance Innovation
• Material Science in Sport

The objective of the grant opportunity is:

• To identify and partner with innovative organisations to rapidly evaluate technologies, interventions and platforms that create impact and value across multiple sports through addressing at least one of the five priority areas and seek to create mutually beneficial partnerships.

The intended outcomes of the grant opportunity are:

• The identification and delivery of innovative technologies, interventions and/or platforms that create new and novel value for Australian sport.
• Partnerships and ideas that build a strong foundation to grow The Park into a hub that leads innovation and commercialisation of cutting-edge research and development for the benefit of sports and the people who participate and compete in sport.

To be eligible you must be an authorised representative of an organisation that:

• is an incorporated entity under Australian law, such as the Corporations Act 2001
• have a Combined Annual Turnover of less than A$20 million for each of the 3 financial years prior to application lodgement 
• has an Australian Business Number (ABN) 
• holds appropriate insurance cover (eg. Public liability)
• is registered for the purposes of GST
• has an account with an Australian financial institution
• is a legal entity with the capacity to enter into a legally binding agreement or contract
• is not a trust or government agency.
